Pearl City Media, LLC ("Pearl City Media," "we," "us") operates pearlcitymedia.com and the Discover Muscatine and Pearl City Games brands. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
It applies to our websites, our forms and registrations, our email, the Pearl City Games app and events, and our text messaging programs, Pearl City Media Texting and Pearl City Games. Some products have their own privacy policy that adds to this one; those are listed under "Product-specific policies" below.
Information we collect
- Information you give us: name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, and anything you include in forms, registrations, RSVPs, contest enrollments, or messages to us.
- Pearl City Games accounts: your account name and contact information, your attestation that you are 18 or older if you enroll in a contest, and the first names of family members you add to your account (see "Pearl City Games, family members, and children" below).
- Content you submit: photos and other content you upload while playing a game or taking part in an event.
- Text messaging information: your mobile number, your opt-in consent (date, time, and the form or keyword you used), and the messages you send to or receive from us.
- Payment information: when you pay us, payment card details are processed by our payment providers. We do not store full card numbers.
- Automatic information: basic device, browser, and usage data collected by our website hosting and analytics tools, such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and referring site.
How we use information
- To provide the services, programs, games, and events you request, and to respond to you.
- To run contests, verify eligibility, and deliver prizes.
- To send the text messages you have opted in to receive, and to honor opt-out (STOP) and help (HELP) requests.
- To send email you have asked for, including newsletters you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To operate, secure, and improve our websites and services, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations.
We do not use personal information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers that help us run our websites, apps, email, payments, and messaging (for example, our hosting and telecommunications providers), only as needed to provide those services to you.
- With an organization we are running a program or event for, limited to what that organization needs for the program you joined.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of you, us, or others.
- In connection with a merger, sale, or transfer of our business, subject to this policy.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Text messaging
Joining any of our text programs is optional and is never a condition of purchase or service. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help. Program details are in our SMS Terms: Pearl City Media Texting and Pearl City Games.
Text messages from Pearl City Games are sent only to the adult account holder's mobile number. We do not text family members.
We send marketing email only to people who signed up or have a business relationship with us. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor requests promptly. Service and account messages, such as receipts and registration confirmations, are sent as needed to provide what you asked for.
Cookies and analytics
Our websites use cookies and similar technologies that are needed for the site to work, such as keeping you signed in. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our sites, and our own self-hosted monitoring system to keep our sites and apps running and secure. These tools may collect your IP address, device and browser information, and pages visited. Our monitoring data stays on systems we control and is not shared with third parties.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Google provides a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics. Blocking some cookies may affect how our sites work.
Pearl City Games, family members, and children
Pearl City Games is built so that children's information comes from their parent, not from the child.
- Contest play requires an adult account holder. To enroll in a contest, the account holder must confirm they are 18 or older.
- Teens 13 to 17 may create their own browse-only account to view maps, venues, schedules, and announcements. Teen accounts cannot enroll in contests or sign up for text messages. To play, a teen joins as a family member on a parent's or guardian's account.
- Children under 13 cannot have their own account. They take part only as family members added by a parent or guardian.
What we keep about family members. A parent or guardian adds family members inside their own account. We collect only a first name for each family member. We do not collect a family member's contact information, age, or birthdate. Family members appear publicly by first name and last initial only. Family member information is not used for analytics, advertising, or AI tools, and is not included in data exports.
Photos. Each photo uploaded in a game starts with two equal choices: share it to the gallery or keep it private. Only the adult account holder can share a photo to the gallery. By sharing, the account holder confirms that every identifiable person under 18 in the photo is their own family member, or that they have that child's parent's or guardian's permission. Gallery photos are reviewed before they appear, and we remove any photo on request from a parent or guardian of a child shown in it. We use photos in advertising or sponsor promotions only with a separate opt-in.
Prizes. A prize won by a family member under 18 is claimed by the parent or guardian. We may look at a government-issued ID to verify the adult claiming the prize. We do not keep a copy of the ID.
Parent and guardian rights. A parent or guardian can review, change, or delete their family members' information at any time from their account, or by contacting us. Deleting a family member removes their name from scoreboards and deletes photos associated with them.
If we learn a child under 13 has their own account. Anyone can report an account they believe belongs to a child under 13 by contacting us. If we learn that a child under 13 created an account or gave us their own personal information, we close that account and delete its personal information within 30 days.
Outside Pearl City Games, our websites and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Data we handle for our clients
When we build, host, or manage websites, systems, or accounts for a client, we handle that client's data on the client's behalf. The client's own privacy policy and our agreement with the client govern that data, not this policy. Questions about a client's data should go to that client.

Your choices
- Text STOP to opt out of text messages at any time.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Delete your Pearl City Games account and its data from your account settings.
- Contact us to access, correct, or delete your personal information. We may need to verify your identity first.
Data security and retention
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is perfectly secure.

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If we make a material change to how we use personal information, we will post a notice on our website before the change takes effect.
